Connect Codex to your PCs
Codex can work with files and run commands on any of your Windows PCs — even one in another room or another city.
Two commands in the terminal
The Codex CLI, IDE extension and app share one settings file (~/.codex/config.toml), so you add it once.
- Add the server:
codex mcp add bridgerator --url https://mcp.bridgerator.recondeck.com/ mcp - Sign in to Bridgerator — a browser opens; sign in with Google or e-mail (your account is created on the spot, free):
codex mcp login bridgerator - Connect your PC: paste one command into PowerShell on it (no admin rights) and press “Connect this computer” in the tab with the code.
& ([scriptblock]::Create((irm https://bridgerator.recondeck.com/ install.ps1))) - Start Codex and ask for something on your PC.
https://mcp.bridgerator.recondeck.com/mcp Without a browser sign-in
On a server or in CI use a personal access key. Keep it in an environment variable and add this to ~/.codex/config.toml:
[mcp_servers.bridgerator] url = "https://mcp.bridgerator.recondeck.com/mcp" bearer_token_env_var = "BRIDGERATOR_KEY"
setx BRIDGERATOR_KEY brg_…Put your own key instead of brg_… and open a new terminal. The key gives full access to your PCs, like signing in — keep it like a password.
Questions
Is it the same account as for ChatGPT?
Yes. One Bridgerator account means the same computers in every app. Tool calls count the same: 10,000 a month per account on Free.
Why, if Codex already runs on my PC?
To work with your other computers: for example, ask Codex on your laptop to check your home PC. Each connected PC shows up by name.
