Recipes
A recipe is a ready-made job that comes with Bridgerator. ChatGPT fills in your folders and options and runs it right away — or puts it on a schedule in Windows Task Scheduler. Scheduled runs go without the AI and spend no tool calls.
How it works
A ready-made job
The job is tested in advance and ships with Bridgerator. ChatGPT only sets the parameters: folders go through the same access rules as file actions, and wrong values are refused before anything runs.
Now or on a schedule
Running it now is an ordinary ChatGPT action on your PC. A schedule goes into Windows Task Scheduler as your user, no admin rights; from then on Windows runs the recipe by itself while you are signed in — no ChatGPT, no tool calls.
Always visible
Scheduled jobs are listed in the Bridgerator window, and every run is logged on this PC (time, result, end of the output). ChatGPT can show, change or delete them when you ask. If a scheduled run fails, the run log shows it, and with Telegram connected you get a message.
Recipes use the terminal, so they are off in the access presets Read only and Files. “Clean up old downloads” moves files to the Recycle Bin, and both it and “Sort a folder by file type” have a DryRun mode that only shows what would happen.
All recipes
Copy a phrase and send it to ChatGPT with Bridgerator connected. Change the schedule or parameters right in the phrase: “…every day at 9:00”, “…for the folder D:\Photos”. To run it once: “Run the Bridgerator recipe "…" now”.
Back up a folder
Copies a folder to another place (another disk, a USB drive, a cloud folder) with robocopy. Only new and changed files are copied. Mirror = true also removes files from the copy that are gone from the original; it is refused when the Destination already holds files that this backup did not make.
ParametersSource— Folder to back up (required)Destination— Where the copy goes (created if missing) (required)Mirror— Also remove files from the copy that were deleted in the original (default: no)
Default schedule: Every day at 21:00
Say to ChatGPTRun the Bridgerator recipe "Back up a folder" every day at 21:00Clean up old downloads
Moves files older than N days from a folder (Downloads by default) to the Recycle Bin, so they can be restored. Hidden and system files are kept. A file that can't go to the Recycle Bin (network drive, too big) is kept and listed. DryRun = true only lists what would go.
ParametersFolder— Folder to clean (default:%USERPROFILE%\Downloads)Days— Files not changed for this many days (1–3650; default:30)Subfolders— Also look inside subfolders (default: no)DryRun— Only list, move nothing (default: no)
Default schedule: Every Monday at 10:00
Say to ChatGPTRun the Bridgerator recipe "Clean up old downloads" every Monday at 10:00Disk space report
Free space on every local disk, the biggest folders and files inside a folder (your user folder by default; folders excluded on this PC and Bridgerator's own are skipped). OutFile = also save the report to this .txt file (an existing file is kept: the report gets a free name).
ParametersFolder— Folder to look into (default:%USERPROFILE%)Top— How many folders and files to list (5–50; default:15)OutFile— Also save the report here (.txt)
Default schedule: Every Friday at 12:00
Say to ChatGPTRun the Bridgerator recipe "Disk space report" every Friday at 12:00Sort a folder by file type
Moves the files at the top of a folder (Downloads by default) into subfolders by type: Images, Documents, Archives, Video, Music, Installers. Unfinished downloads, hidden files and shortcuts stay. A name that already exists gets " (2)". Other = true also moves unknown types into Other. DryRun = true only lists the moves.
ParametersFolder— Folder to sort (default:%USERPROFILE%\Downloads)Language— Language of the subfolder names (one of:en,ru; default:en)Other— Move unknown file types into Other (default: no)DryRun— Only list, move nothing (default: no)
Default schedule: Every day at 18:00
Say to ChatGPTRun the Bridgerator recipe "Sort a folder by file type" every day at 18:00Update apps (winget)
Uses Windows Package Manager (winget). Mode list = only show which apps have updates; all = update every app winget can update silently. Apps installed for all users may need administrator rights and are then skipped or ask. AcceptAgreements = true only after the person agreed to the program and source license terms.
ParametersMode— list = show updates, all = install them (one of:list, all; default:list)AcceptAgreements— Accept the license terms of the programs and the source (only after the person agreed) (default: no)

Your own job on a schedule
No recipe for it? Ask ChatGPT to write the job, test it once with you and save it with a schedule. From then on it works like a recipe: without the AI and without tool calls.
Write a script that sorts new scans from Inbox into monthly folders every morning at 8:00. Show me the script and run it once first, then save it as a Bridgerator automation.
Save a Bridgerator automation that checks free space on drive C: every time I sign in to Windows and writes the result to D:\Reports\disk.txt.
